The North Shore Story

Established in the early eighties North Shore has always been a company happy to plot its own course. The company ethos is a simple one; to develop and produce innovative yet practical designs thoroughly tested in real world conditions, by real world paddlers.

Within the industry and to its regular customers North Shore’s approach has always been well recognised, with kayaks like the Shore Line being credited with generating a "C" change in industry thinking on boat design. Sometimes to its detriment, North Shore has avoided blowing its own trumpet. Whilst other companies were cranking up their marketing departments and reeling out wordy press releases, generally over nothing, the guys at North Shore tended to get on with it and let the paddling public decide. Perhaps 2007 is the year that this quiet mouse of the industry finds its roar.

The biggest change for 2007 is a change in distribution, bringing North shore to far more stores, making their kayaks far more available than ever before. To mark this change, all major models have received a slight facelift, with revised outfitting and a few subtle tweaks to the designs, ensuring the designs are the most up to date in the industry. The New Year will also bring the first polyethylene kayaks to carry the North Shore name, with the launch of the long awaited plastic versions of the Atlantic and Shore Line.
